Grant Conditions

General conditions of Grants awarded by the Charity

  1. In these general conditions, 'you' means the person or persons to whom in each case we propose to make a grant, 'we' means The Leche Trust (registered charity no 225659), ‘grant’ means any such financial assistance as we may offer to you, and ‘project’ means the works or activities described in your application to us for financial assistance.
  2. If you wish to accept the grant, please send a letter to us accepting it on these terms and conditions , to arrive within two months of the date of the offer letter.
  3. You will only use the grant for the project as set out in the offer letter. Any other proposed use must first be notified to us in writing as soon as possible, which we may approve or not in our absolute discretion.
  4. You will acknowledge that the grant has been given by The Leche Trust in any publicity material in connection with the project. Receipt of the grant cheque will be acknowledged in writing.
  5. You will, on request, supply us with photographs of the project free of charge, or (in the case of artistic projects) with a copy of the programme, which may be used in our annual report or on our website, and also describe the impact of the project, and the benefits flowing from it.
  6. You will keep us informed of the progress of the project. The grant will normally be paid  on the completion of the project (with the exception of grants for performing arts) and all grants must be claimed within two years, unless ( in the sole opinion of the trustees) there are exceptional circumstances. A report on the progress of the project will be sent to the Trustees one year from the offer date.
  7. It is a condition of grants to churches, that the necessary Faculty is obtained and that the Council for the Care of Churches, or similar body, has approved the proposed course of action.In the case of secular bodies, it is a condition of grant that all and any necessary licences approvals or consents may have been obtained from those bodies whose consent is required. Where issued, a copy of the conservator’s final report is to be lodged with us on completion of the project.
  8. You undertake not to dispose of any object which has benefited from a grant from us without our prior written consent. We may require repayment of the grant as a condition of that consent, or if any work is subsequently done to a relevant object in contravention of the grant conditions. Should you consider the disposal of the object for which this grant is offered, we should be notified I writing at the earliest opportunity.
  9. Any part of the grant that is not required for the approved purpose is to be refunded to the Trust.
  10. We reserve the right for our trustees and staff to inspect work in progress or completed objects in respect of which grant-aided work has been carried out.
  11. If any of the above conditions are not complied with, we reserve the right to cancel the offer of grant, or to claim repayment of the grant if already paid.
  12. If your inspecting architect is not supervising the work, he/she should be kept informed of progress.
  13. The conserved object should be accessible to members of the public. The access must be reasonable subject to the nature, location and condition of the object and the name of the access sought.
  14. You must take all reasonable steps to ensure the future care and security of the objects(s) concerned, including appropriate insurance cover.
  15. Any works proposed in the future, which materially affect the object in respect of which a grant has been made, shall be submitted to us before work begins. If this condition is not complied with, we reserve the right to require repayment of the grant.
